Creating an Office Coffee Co-Operative
Whether you’re an employee or an employer you’re probably aware of one fact; office coffee is horrendous. It’s dark, grimy, instant and usually comes in giant tin drums. No one wants it and most office workers suspect it might be killing them. So why buy it? Sure those drums of industrial instant coffee are cheap, but they still cost money! And if no one enjoys drinking it but does so out of habit, that’s just a waste of resources. And morale.
If you’re the only one that is interested in drinking high quality coffee in the office then check out my article on How to Make Office Coffee Better. But if there’s a small, or even large group of you who want good quality coffee at work, then read on. If you’re an employer of a small business with only a few employees, this can also work for you. Small businesses can’t afford luxury coffee items for their workers, but they can if they make it a team effort.
Everyone together now
Bean to Cup Coffee machines are one of the best ways to get delicious coffee without going to the coffee shop. And often, you can make even better coffee than they do at the café round the corner. There are plenty of chain coffee shops out there who sell horrible coffee, even though it comes out of a machine.
The Krups EA8260 Coffee Machine is one of the best in its class.
If you have a group in your office who all enjoy excellent coffee then it’s time you did something about it in-house. Especially if you’re the types who are constantly popping out to the branch of Starbucks handily located on the ground floor of your office building!
Pod Coffee Machines
The best coffee machines for office coffee lovers are without a doubt the pod coffee variety. This is because the machines are extremely low maintenance, fast and easy to use, and each person can choose their own pod whenever they want a coffee so it suits a group of people with varying tastes. Because pods come in tea form and hot chocolate form, the colleagues in your co-operative don’t even have to like coffee!
Pod coffee machines are very affordable and if the price is split between five, you’re really only looking at around £15 each. For an office coffee machine! How good is that! With deals on Amazon you can get a modern and funky pod coffee machine for around £50, which is a total bargain, especially as you’ve been drinking scummy instant for years!
The Nescafe Dolce Gusto (review here) machines are super quick to use and all look amazing in their weird and wonderful designs. Because there’ll be a group of people using this machine, it’s best to go for a machine that has a large water tank capacity. This means people won’t have to refill the tank each time they want a drink. The Dolce Gusto Melody 3 is one of the best for this, with a 1.3L water tank. Anything with less than a litre is probably not the best choice.
These machines are clean, low maintenance and usually have a one or two button operation. There’s no reason why you should be still drinking instant office coffee. Just think of the difference this will make to your work.
Compatible Dolce Gusto pods and originals
The great thing about a pod coffee machine in the office is that there are pod flavours to suit everyone. Whether they want a caramel latte, a macchiato, a cappuccino, a simple espresso, a Moroccan style coffee or just a nice up of tea, there’s something for them.
With deals on Amazon and eBay all the time, getting bargains on coffee pod boxes is simple and you could start a Pod Pot at work where you all contribute just a pound a week towards the cost of pods. Since 16 pods can be bought for £3-£4 – that’s not so bad!
Pods come in mixed boxes and solo flavour boxes, so if it suits your group, you could all be responsible for your own pods and buy your own too. Once you’ve bought the machine together at around £10 each, the pods are the easy part.
Compatible Dolce Gusto coffee pods are also increasingly easy to find and offer savings for those looking at coffee pods. This will only get more and more common, so keep you ear to the ground or just check back to Blackheart’s Coffee Blog every now and again and I’ll show you the best compatible Dolce Gusto coffee pods on the web.
Sit back and relax
Now you don’t have to ever drink instant coffee at work ever again. Just head into the staff kitchen, pop your pod into the machine and press go. The aroma is delicious coffee will fill the air and you’ll go back to your desk with a mug of comfort and flavour, not a mug of disappointment and bitterness.
